Max Chambers

I watched this movie as a young child on repeat and forgot about it for years. I found the old DVD in a stash, I thought my memories of the movie were a fever dream. I've now rewatched it and I love it so so much there's no doubt that this is my favourite movie of all time. Despite the cast and director, this isn't supposed to be a movie with a deep plot to be taken seriously. This is a fun, family movie (although I love to watch it on my own) that in my opinion is a masterpiece. You have to lend yourself to the experience, It's cheesy, It's goofy and it's downright ridiculous but that's what makes the film. The music is amazing, it makes me tear up, it makes me laugh and it gives me goosebumps all throughout. Don't take this movie too seriously, it's not meant for that.

I’ve read all of the books (which are amazing) but the acting in this film is absolutely atrocious, it’s so cheesy and unbelievable that it completely ruins the atmosphere for me. The character casting for a lot of the characters was pretty bad as well with a lot of the descriptions of characters in the books lining up. It may sound like i’m just a salty book nerd but even if I hadn’t read the books the terrible acting/script and cheesy scenes/lines that just make you cringe would automatically make this a 1 star review. First film review i’ve ever written due to them butchering one of my favorite childhood books.
