i’m so tired of the same thing. some girl gets super powers, can’t control them, has some emotional scene then boom she can use her powers. also the whole gov organization that tracks people with powers is so over used. stranger things, believe, impulse, the list goes on and on. it’s so boring and played out. not to add the world building in this movie was dull. no original locations or brands. in my opinion that’s something fans love. (also shows with really good world building: the umbrella academy, psych, friends, manic, black mirror) another thing is like to add is the writing, i think they were going for very emotional but ended up with cringe (i.e riverdale style) maybe it was the actors; i feel like the whole “i don’t want to hurt you but my powers are hurting you” could have made me feel an emotional connection but it didn’t. i will however say the cinematography is great. it’s absolutely beautiful for a movie which script is not. i walked into the movie really hoping for a twist and waited 90 minutes to see the same thing i’ve seen a hundred times.
