Stunning film that has the rare distinction of being truly thought provoking.
The performances were superb across the board, the writing was excellent and the direction was sublime.
I love the SciFi genre, which means I lament how most are either poorly made or ignore the SCIENCE portion of SciFi and treat science and technology like magic.
This film does not. The simulants are believable in articulation and movement. The technology blends well with reasonable projections of future weapons and flight tech. The motivations and actions of Western based, specifically American military forces seem spot on.
On this canvas, Gareth Edwards et al have created a masterpiece that rivals Blade Runner in its visionary scope. It broaches not just the concept of AI, but the concrete manifestations of it while highlighting the best and worst of humanity. It challenges our traditional understanding of anthropomorphism, love and connection.
I highly recommend this film
