I have not read any of the books, nor had I seen the earlier version of this series, so I had no preconceived expectations. That said, I felt it has so far proven to be very well done. It really makes you feel like you are back in the 1930s in England. The characters are so real . . . James Herriot was such a wonderful man. Love this show!
