I enjoyed playing the game FFR7 Remake immensely. It’s the best remake I’ve ever played. Even though the game play is linear, there are also quite a few side quests which enhance the story and you get rewards for doing them. The 3rd person perspective was good, and the combat wasn’t too difficult. You have to swap out the materia frequently. Upgrading the weapons was great with the galaxy whirlpool and the core and the sub-cores, which was really clever. Music was surprisingly good. I liked how you can switch between the characters during combat, Cloud, Barret, Tifa and Aerith. Red XIII was an unusual, but great character. It was unfortunate that he was unplayable. The game environment, when you first start playing, is jaw-dropping, for example in the Sector 7 Slums when you glance up and see the plates, it’s pretty awe-inspiring. It highlighted the equalities in that world where the poor live under the plate and the wealthy live above. Those that are doing well work for Shinra. The extraction of mako whilst it keeps the lights on, is a polluting energy. This was one of the longest games I’ve ever played but well worth the effort.
