Personally I did not care for the movie too much, evil shouldnโt be a character trait. In the beginning we see why Tom Hollandโs father was messed up, but why was the photographer into nude photography and murder? Why was the sister into the preacher? Why was the preacher to lustful? These are questions that you expect to be answered during a movie with a run time as long as this ones
I didnโt have an urge to turn it off, it kept my attention and maintained my curiosity for the most part but I feel no need to watch the film again. With a movie that long with as many unanswered questions as it has you canโt help but think โare the directors planning on making another one? And if they do, do I really want to sit through another 2 hours of this just to find out answers to questions that shouldโve been answered in the previous movie?โ
I am not a critic I am just a bored dude at 2am but i feel like if you are going to make a movie without incorporating a background/reason for the characters actions donโt make it over 2 hours long. And if the only thing most people find interesting is the interweaving of the stories then donโt give it away in the narration in the beginning. After the first quarter of the movie you catch on that everyone in this film is either dead, evil, or Tom Holland. If you are going to have a story as basic as small town thatโs Haunted then donโt try and improve it by making it two towns that are haunted. Lessen the time and throw in something you canโt predict from the beginning, maybe then I will watch the sequel.
