"2001," "Forbidden Planet," and the George Hal trilogy were the landmark movies of science fiction in the mid-20th Century. The first two of these had outstanding soundtracks as well. "Mad Magazine" at the time postulated that the black monolith is really the box that the UN Building came in. Heh-heh!
