A lot of critics panned this movie, but I feel like this movie was made for those that have lived in similar skin - whether it be anxiety, depression, loneliness, bullying… or if they’ve lost someone to any of type mental illness. The performance of Connors family really resonated and were incredibly heartfelt. As for using Connor as a way to raise awareness - it’s messy, and it happens…. I think rather than exploiting the need for people to rally around someone they weren’t there for…. It’s turning truth to how that happens. The cast did a fantastic job with heavy material. The pain and joy felt real, like tears stinging dry cheeks when you’re trying with all your might to hold them back.
