It is a very, very long and rather chaotic book. The history covered is interesting but jumps continually between historical characters and their activities becoming difficult to follow. I am a fast reader but even with my reading speed, after two weeks, I am only a little over halfway through the book. While the subject interests me, I do not recommend the book. The timeline is great but the jumps between various historical characters creates confusion in the storyline. There are too many asides in the book.
