A deeper side of Nicholas Cage I would have never guessed. So much being said in such few words!! If you're on the fence about it, JUST DO IT! This movie will STILL have you thinking about it 3 days later lol. So many LAYERS and aspects, LOVED IT!! It's actually difficult to pinpoint "THE" meaning(s) behind it, because it's so multifaceted! In fact, that's what this movie is, a "multifaceted gem"!! I think MANY will be able to take something DIFFERENT away from it. And it could actually be sorta scary if you think about it (due to our worlds current position - Religion, Covid, Global warming, Nuclear threats, China, Governments, I could go on). Didn't life USED to be simple?
These are MY views of the movie, because some of the posts I read that was trying to say it was "gloom and doom", and Cages way of reflecting on his own immortality or??? I may be wrong, but I saw it as being the exact opposite, which was "hey, we're all gonna die some day, rich and poor alike! So enjoy the little things, as THEY are most valuable!!" Not money, fame, what size YACHT just came out on the market, or what SHADE of "pristine blue" is popular in this years episode of fabulous Millionaires DREAMY weekend-home WONDERS Magazine. Get back to the basics.
An amazing reminder that no matter how much money we may have, or THINGS we have obtained in this world, we're poorest of all if we've lost sight of what's most important. So we should probably stop trying to keep up with the "Jones's". Equally important; is for us to Be real!! Not everyone HAS to LIKE us, and that's THEIR problem, not ours. We're not in this world to impress THEM.
Do what you love. Love what you do. Ultimately, not only will you BE the best, but the love and care you put INTO it, will be noticed and shared by others as well. In fact, it may become the ONE thing that sets them apart from all the others. One more thing to take away, for me, was when they were in the last restaurant, and he mentioned something in reference to "if he had never chosen to go into the city looking for her, that in HIS mind, he would have never known what had happened". Would you rather know, or not? Wow what a huge burden to actually HAVE to decide that. I had never even thought twice about that.
