For me this felt extremely disjointed. It reads as though lots of different ideas had been quickly cobbled together by a ‘magical’ element that is so basic that it makes the whole narrative seem childish. There are some amazing parts to the book but it feels like it needed to be way more refined or ‘crafted’ for it all to work together. Some of the exchanges between characters made me cringe. Someone else pointed out grammatical errors, so it does make me wonder if this was just dashed off and published quickly before it could be properly written!
