Don't listen to the naysayers. So many strike me as typical fair-weather Sopranos fans - expecting one thing, but getting another, very different thing. This isn't Tony's origin story nor is it meant to be - it's a cautionary tale about appetites and impulses, slights and egos, race and pathos. This is Greek Tragedy on a human scale.
In fairness, is there a little too much fan service and do some characters feel underdeveloped? Sure, but (and I'm being careful to avoid spoilers, which makes this review extra difficult) what Chase, Konnor and Taylor happen to accomplish within the film's brisk 2 hour time is astonishing. Anything that leaves you wanting more isn't necessarily a bad thing. I have a feeling this will be like the original series' ending - people may intensely dislike it at first, but they'll come, over time, to see its subtle brilliance.
