Pikmin 4's two-player mode is a significant step back from previous entries in the series. The second player's limited functionality makes them feel more like a hindrance than a helpful partner. Rather than offering strategic depth, the current implementation feels tacked on and underdeveloped. This severely restricts cooperative gameplay and diminishes the overall experience. The developers missed a significant opportunity to create a truly engaging cooperative mode.
