This book is a must read. The author provides thorough details on how black people across the globe have contributed to society and the United States in particular. What is unique about Fowler's book is that written in easy to comprehend language. Black people from antiquity to current times (male and female) are not only taught about, but their historical accounts have been erased. After reading Fowler's book, I gained a renewed sense of pride as a Black man, and have done my own research on the people discussed. Yes, the book itself looks like it would be boring; however, I recommend that this be a required reading for everyone over 13- especially women and men of color.
PS. If reading time is an issue, may I suggest the audio version. The narrator keeps the text interesting and moves along quickly.
