Had potential but was lacking and had a confusing ending.
Starts off with a working class mum who is busy, worn out and frustrated with the hum drum of ordinary life to make ends meet. She walks out on her home and family in search of the high life, determined to leave her roots, responsibilities, heritage behind in presuit of being a whole new person and assume a new identity.
However her past catches up with her and she has to face the truth about what she left behind.
Unfortunately there are lots of unanswered questions, gaps in the journey, clunky transitions from one scene to another without connection or a very loose link.
(Spoiler alert)
The things I found annoying were...
How did they afford a hotel for a week?
What happened to the basketball bully?
Why were the wigs itchy?
Why kill the guy they weren't related to and who had nothing to do with it?
Where was the dad?
Why did no one call the police towards the end? There was lots of opportunity when the others weren't watching.
It could have had more twists and insights into her past and how she got where she was. We could have gone on more of a journey with all the characters so that we could identify with each of them more. Infact it had all the ingredients for a mini series to give more context as to what was going on.
