I just recently watched both seasons and the movie. It was fantastic, one of the best things I have seen on television in a very long time. The series gave a very realistic portrayal of the lives and culture of gay men who live in big cities like SF with large gay populations. I wish HBO would have continued the series, but the wrap up movie gave some sense of closure. Patrick (Jonathan Groff) reminds me of so many gay men I have met over the years -- a genuinely good guy who leads with his heart, is desperate for love, kinda neurotic and nutty at times, and occasionally makes some really bad decisions, usually after drinking too much. The other characters and their relationships were spot on and the music was terrific. There are some very emotional scenes that brought a tear to my eye and others where I laughed out loud. I absolutely loved it.
