Warning - spoilers
Haven't seen a horror show in a very long time that gave me proper chills like this. Well-written, very well acted, and eminently believable despite the ultimate reliance on the paranormal (with good writing Season 2 could conceivably exorcise these ghosts as there is enough room for science - at least on the fringes of theories of reality and multiple universes - to leave those doors open). And to those who question the connection between Dan and Melody, sorry but it's very believable to me.
The possibility that Dan has been set up to bring Melody "back" hasn't escaped me, and would I think be an interesting thread going forward, especially with Melody's potential reaction to discovering that...
