I've only recently gotten back into video games, now that I'm mom to a 5 yr old, so I've been playing mainly games appropriate for children. But I decided to expand my horizons and came across this game perusing Nintendo's offerings. I decided to purchase Road 96 after watching a play through on YouTube as the game looked fun enough, and I was intrigued by the story telling aspect of the game. The game IS fun, but it definitely left me wanting for more. The mechanics were frustrating for me, and you can't do much in the way of exploring your surroundings, since you're corralled by an invisible boundary. I appreciate the "choose your own adventure" theme of the game, though I'd appreciate it even more if there were a higher degree of flexibility and control. I will credit this game, though, for demonstrating how far video games and the stories within have come since I was a child.
