As a fan it didn't surprised me, but it didn't drove me away either. The kinda dropped the ball on the second episode, but there are glimmers of hope in the way they are using the source material. In conclusion, like any other fan of the franchise will tell you. Just give them time, season 2 will fix most of the problems.
