I was excited to see a newer, fresher version of the Candyman that I grew up watching because they were so GOOD!! I loved the cinematography and art feel of this latest movie and beautiful characters but this movie was dripping with the social and political themes. The disappointing thing is that it would have been a great film w/o the blatant and dangerous message that white people are to blame for all of the oppression and therefore deserve to be killed. I just wanted to see a freakin' movie and this was over the top. I should have looked up the director before I went because Jordan Peele is no stranger to showcasing his 'justified racism and vengeance' within his films like Us and Get Out. Amazed that a film like this, this day in age is acceptable, nonetheless praised by critics. Disappointing on alot of levels........1 star because I had to in order to post otherwise Zero stars
