This bridges the beloved Liam as a tough but with a soul having so much going on and yet appearing as simple a man can be. If you are a lover of this actor this will not disappoint and frankly the acting is superb from the entire cast. It walks sinister then surprises you with clear music/singing (part of the Irish soul and national but modest enjoyment). The director understands the place and time with the surreal beauty of the land. I cannot recommend this enough. 24 out of 10 score. Post script/ Need to mention this story trucks! It's delightful, heartfelt, and deep. Wanted it to just keep going, without realizing it was halfway over then done...too soon. A feat rarely achieved for a film these days. This flick was so good! I went back and watched it again today and started looking up things from the history of the Troubles in Ireland, and it was absolutely fascinating the second time. I got a lot more information and more character development, tragic across the board and yet there were some characters I was happy, but still cried, when they were taken out. The church at the end...Even those were not two dimensional and had plenty of heart for the bigger cause and the senselessness of innocents getting hurt. Just a deep, rich tapestry of a film!!! And the ending, touching and just sums up the enduring spirit of this valiant island and its people. Please, please watch it- a film like this is just effing outstanding!

If you are a lover of history and westerns you will LOVE this! Cannot understand an overall score of 3.2-this is sweeping and as good as all of Costner's work thus far. Cast is superb, story the same:) Recommend highly!

I understand the former reviews because if you are not a fan of Agatha Christie, or of new interpretations of her work, it will be a disappointment. However, I am a fan of Kenneth Branagh, his innovative directing, Camera shots, his interpretation of the character, and his choice of cast. And beyond that, the effect achieved was superior and spooky. It was eerie from the get-go, complex, and tragic as all of her stories are. I hope that people will give this movie a try. I am certainly looking forward to the fourth installment and hope that this director continues to keep doing these. Absolutely love this series more than any other series that's come out in the last 40 years. This is a type of film I prefer to watch with a bowl of popcorn at home. Truth be told, it's my preference for this kind of entertainment full stop. Perhaps the director will consider a reboot of the Uninvited (w Ray Milland).

Acting is outstanding! Stylish and slowly brings for this classic story written by Agatha Christie. The lineup of actors is the best I've seen of this version and I loved the 1970s with Peter Ustinov off as the fabled Poirot.Kenneth Branagh's direction and portrayal is clearly above all and my new favorite. You will love his backstory...Gal Gadot, sublime, simply sublime:) The music? A TREAT in the Manhattan Transfer genre, newer versions of that period, which I adore. Truly, sorry this film got some neg press, it definitely did not deserve it.

Edgy story improved to really, really superior by the acting.

Highest recommendation. Intelligent writing, compassionate real and funny dialog, acting is superb. What a great cast and a GEM:)
