This movie touched upon several themes, including criticism of certain aspects of American culture, with which I agree. However, the film did the French dirty. The leading male actor, Arnaud Viard, had a severe rapist vibe. This intensity was so horrible that it appeared to influence the behavior of the leading female actor, Diane Lane, in a way that resembled a Stockholm syndrome response. Overall, I found the movie disappointing, and I wanted to punch myself for watching it, and I still might.
