Twilight, in space. 35 minutes in, feels like a millennial soap opera with a politically correct wash. Button down collars, chiseled jawlines, designer clothes, and when the writing isn't poor, scenes are peppered with forced drama, familiar themes and plots strewn throughout. If you're into that sort of thing, then give it a whirl. If you come from the age of classics like Alien, you won't like this - it just falls short of even watchable. I have yet to see a solid sci-fi from a Netflix production. Mindhunter and House of Cards (first few seasons) were top notch - not sure why they can't channel that talent towards a sci-fi. This just feels like an old USA Network series but updated with diversity boxes checked.
