Film seem like it might have had some potential and two actors who played the villains who might have been good for a couple of scenes and lines.
The story:
Skynet, I mean, Kronos is an Ai that has intellectually determined that for the goals of saving the "World" and for there to be "Peace" human beings have to die. Then the Earth will flourish and there will be pease.
That is portrayed as what happens in the film.
Well, what they don't show us, is that some human beings built faster that light space ships and left Earth to another planet like Earth and started over. Which supposedly all happen without the super computer AI Kronos discovering.
So the film begins with Skynet, I mean Kronos coming online and (for reasons unexplained) merges with John Q's (It's creater) character before wiping out humans with missle strikes and giant robots.
Sixty (60) years later, amazingly (for reasons unexplained), some humans are still alive. Over the course of eradicating the rest of the humans Kronos and John Q decide that the best way to find the last of the humans on Earth is to make a terminator, I mean, human looking android that does not know he is a robot. Give it the memories, face, and body of a young man who dead along time ago. He is then left in an area a young woman they have under surveillance in the hopes she will take a liking to him and take him with her to the safe space, Aurora.
The film follows the couple as they dodging one faked robot attack and one encounter with some nasty humans who are going to rape the girl until the terminator, I mean human looking android goes superstrong and knocks them around. Really, there are only like 10 actors in the film (some background people in crowds at the beginning).
So, predictably, the young woman and young man fall in love. She and he discovers he is an android but he that doesn't matter because 'love.'
Together they find a starship and fly to the alien planet Aurora.
The film ends with the John Q's character saying that he's going to finish the job of killing all of humanity as he has figured out (by watching through the young man's robot eyes) that Aurora is not on Earth but an alien world who's location he now knows. While the humans of Aurora abondon their alien world to escape skynet, I mean Kronos.
To me, the movie might have been one star better if they had fixed the some of the story.
1. Nothing is foreshadowed that humans have faster than light travel and left for another world without a super Ai being able to detect their departure.
2. Sixty years would not have been needed to wipe out humans on Earth.
They should have said like, six months.
3. Even if humans were around after sixty years cities and train tracks would have been overun by nature. So if the script writer is going to stick with sixty years, keep the filming in the forest.
4. If Kronos is going to wipe out humanity it should have started with John Q not merged with him. But I 'get' that the director/writer wanted to the audience to have a villan with a human face.
5. IF Kronos is NOT just a unaware computer but a full Ai it might not try to kill all humans. Shows more thoughtfulness if it tried to save humanity but I guess there is no movie without a villain or at least conflict. Still at the very least it should the Ai to have enough awareness to think about what will it do after it succeeds in killing all humans. If it is alive so to speak its life should not begin and end with "kiliing all the humans." So, no character development just one-dimensional villainry.
