While her 2006 self-titled debut album was full of pop-happiness, "The Sea" runs more into raw and melancholy atmospheres due to her late partner Jason Rae's death of a drug overdose in 2008. The songs "I'd Do It All Again" and "Are You Here" have more personal lyrics, and moan more with deep emotions, thoughts, and feelings. However, songs like "Paris Nights / New York Mornings" and "Closer" give back the vibe of delightfulness and excitement from Corinne's first album, with more funkiness to dance to in either a club or even a roller skating rink. You can also expect more beautiful quotes and production in this album from this very natural, talented singer/songwriter. Highly recommended!

The production and use of technology on this album is absolutely stunning. This album really shines Imogen Heap's breathy vocals as Guy Sigsworth enlights the music with the best use of electronic beats and traditonal instruments. What is also interesting is that this album was released in 2002, and no matter what song you listen to, it still sounds like it was made in present day. If you're already a huge fan of Imogen Heap's solo work, you should definitely give this a listen and prepare yourself to take drugs for your ears. Very timeless!
