I just heard the 8:00 am News CBC radio in Toronto. A Reporter said this was Holocaust Remembrance day to mark the liberation of Auschwitz where 1.1 million people died. I am not certain if this is an example of the new woke philosophy at CBC or just gross ignorance on the part of the reporter, which I doubt. The fact that it was the day Auschwitz was liberated is incidental. The fact that 1.1 million persons died is terrible but not the point of the day. It marks the remembrance of the genocide in which the Nazis tried to exterminate a distinct group, the Jews of whom 6 million were killed for no other reason than their birth. There was no mention of Jews nor of the 6 million nor that the day is meant to honour their memories and remind us that we are all one people and not us and them. How pitiful the CBC has become.
