I watched this movie. The most real thing in terms of potential with the emerging eastern bloc in today's thinking of china/russia vs a western alliance over the middle east like in this movie at the time of this writing of this review.
It is gut wrenching and also censored at the end of the movie as it's far to real even back in the 80s to see on TV. The Day After was more watered down in terms of being "dry" in science and logical thinking but this movie adds emotion to that as it "Hits home" to most that study the cold war and current military thinking and political debate now saying much about it having a very bad feeling about the future of society and how the world is changing for the worse.
Let alone the aspects of how people begin to not speak well forgetting how to speak english in terms of a long term post nuclear war world as the only other thing i've seen this type of slurring broken english is in the game fallout 2 with the kids in this movie speaking that way.
Overall this movie I would highly recommend you watch for the complete human experience of how WW3 could happen in real life let alone how they saw it back in the 1980s. Just remember to read up on it first before watching it if you want your kids to also watch it for needed shock education that think war is good vs debate.
