StopThatTrain I'm Leaving

So well done: well written, acted, filmed, produced and directed. Sometimes I think it's TOO good; it will get inside your head and mess with you. It's certainly messing with me; cat in a bag..? The horror. It takes me a while to recover after watching. The social issues the show takes on, i.e. racism and misogyny are infuriating. From what I've read in some of the negative reviews, some do not really get that it is a horror story. There are many sub-genres under the horror umbrella, and I think this is an emerging style. I gather from these reviews that there is no 'joy' or 'redemption' or 'lessons learned', and, again, this is a horror story. Not all of them follow a formulaic template, and this is a brilliant example of such a story. Bravo to all involved in making this breakthrough series. I hope there are more to come.

My review has more to do with the style of the film than with its content. It didn't seem to have any real focal point; it was all over the place, jumping from history to race to culture to politics. I felt a little overwhelmed by all the information coming at me. I felt like I had more facts about the people and the region in which they live, but I didn't gain as much insight as I'd hoped. That being said, I did appreciate the representation of the LBGTQ community as well as the interviews with bell hooks and other POC. It was a good faith effort by the film maker, I just wish it had had a more cohesive message. I do look forward to seeing more of her work in the future, though, as her unique point of view is a valuable one.

Loved all three seasons! Charlotte is spectacular. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, a genuine pleasure to watch. I'm thrilled to see that a fourth season is in the works. Bravo!

The writers have taken the Coen baton and have run with it to new and amazing heights. I never thought I'd say that this (sort-of) sequel to the iconic film is every bit as compelling as the original, but I would. And I do. WATCH THIS!

"You know this town?" "Yeah, sure." "How well..?" - Mike and random cab driver. One of my favorite scenes and it is only about 45 seconds long. The show is brilliant. Heartbreaking. Hilarious. Addicting. I recommend it. That is all.

Pamela Rabe is magnificent as Joan Ferguson. The way she adjusts her chignon is one of the most memorable character gestures I've ever seen. Subtle and brilliant. The show itself is heartbreaking, outrageous, tragic, with moments of humor and closeness among the women doing their time. Many delightfully unexpected plot twists. One of the highest-quality shows available. I highly recommend.

A moving and compelling existential film. Haunting scenes, wonderful soundtrack. Said to be based on true events, however it does not have a documentary feel at all. I've seen it several times and it has never ceased to fascinate me. Not for everyone; recommended if you enjoy art house films that leave you thinking, "Huh. Interesting."

All of the acting was superb. And Vivian Leigh still outshone them all. If I watch this film too often I become so depressed that I have to put it away for a few years. I always return to it because of its tragic beauty, but its power can overwhelm. "Don't hang back with the brutes!" Brilliant.

Devastating. Horrible and beautiful. Unforgettable. I'm heartbroken.
