I watched this movie three times in the cinema in different formats. The texture of their skin and everything around them looked so damn real almost tangible. You could see the wrinkles on their foreheads, the pores, and the sweat. It felt like I was really on Pandora. I also like the plot and the depth of each character. Contrary to what critics say about Jake being sterner, I think Jake's character is still consistent. His goofiness, competitiveness, bravery, and impulsiveness are still there embodied by his sons, most especially by Lo'ak. He is now a father and even earned the title of Toruk Makto which now puts a lot of expectations and responsibilities on his shoulder, thus, the character arc. I've seen the film three times but it is still a breathtaking experience each time. It always leaves me with the post-avatar blues, the feeling of longing for the non-existent world of Pandora. I can't wait for the other sequels.
Edit: I think many people sometimes fail to acknowledge the subtlety of Avatar. Yes, we’ve grown to expect realistic and unpredictable plots, but I think that is not what the movie was all about. It was inviting us to be immersed into the world of Pandora and the connectedness of its people, and reflect on how we’re destroying ours. Earth is our own Pandora yet with our current state, it pretty much has the potential to turn into the Earth of 2154 as depicted in Avatar.
