John Guanci

A great film especially when viewed within the historical context and reality of Norte Mexico (Texas) as one of many territories in rebellion against Antonio López de Santa Anna due to his suspending the Republic of Mexico's constitution in 1833 which placed the nation under the rule of a dictator. This is what we see being debated in the cabin scene early in the movie, they swore allegiance to Mexico and her constitution, not to, as the line in the movie goes, "...some son-of-a-bitchin' dictator". In the end, only Texas was able to win her freedom while Santa Anna was able to put the other uprisings down militarily. Great film. Watch it and be left in awe.
