This show is definitely a 5/5 stars for me! I love the themes explored in the show like family dynamics, rivalry, mental health, the music industry, etc. The show is so relatable and I like that the London slang used are up to date. The London culture as well as Jamaican culture are embraced very well and are represented in the music and characters. There is so much talent coming from these actors honestly. And the storyline is very relevant. I’m hoping there are more seasons to come. I need to know what happens next after the last episode. Nevertheless, I recommend everyone to watch this show.

The Woman King! Honestly it was such an amazing, emotion evoking, powerful movie. I literally want to watch it again. The cast was well put together. I felt that the actors did such a good job with the African accents. It didn’t sound forced or cringe. Very well written. I found the fighting aesthetically pleasing to watch. The techniques were so good, I wish I could fight that! And to know the actors performed their own stunts makes it so much more impressive! I loved the chemistry between the characters and the personal storylines. It gave a good understanding of each characters struggles and made it relatable. The themes of sisterhood, womanhood, friendship, injustice, betrayal, survival, etc are all things that everyone can relate too. The history of slavery is always painful to watch in any movie but executed the history of the Dahomey warriors well. I know some critics have complained about dark-skinned women being portrayed as strong, warriors, masculine, etc. But honestly, during those times in West Africa many women were of darker complexion. The Woman King reflected the times well.

I love the Madea movies but I’m a bit disappointed with this movie. I did chuckle at some scenes but I found it hard to get into the movie. The storyline didn’t have a clear direction and it seemed all over the place. The concert bit at the end of the movie was so random lol. I wouldn’t stop anyone from watching it if they were bored and had nothing else to watch. But I’m not recommending it either.

I really don’t give reviews that much but honestly all I can say is one word… amazing!! From the animation to the music to the storyline. Fantastic. The creativity behind the visuals are so aesthetically pleasing. I love how realistic the creators have made it. I haven’t finished watching the entire series but I’m so hooked. I definitely recommend this show to anyone. Obviously, its got its violence but the themes that arise such as betrayal, corruption, the tension between the people from the undercity and the council, family, etc are relatable stuff. 5/5

Lacks originality and creativity. That’s the summary for this show. The storyline for each character is bland and non-existent. The humour is not funny. I wish that Hopkins character could develop a bit more emotionally to see his back story. But maybe this is something for a second season if that happens.
