Lost money on this one. It has zero fun outside of the first few days.
I stuck to dynasty here’s what I saw…
Recruiting is fun just like it always was. Playing as Miami and Michigan State felt very different from each other when trying to get commitments. The same formula as the last games in the series though and once you get going you can sign just about anyone you’d want. Some exceptions.
The football itself is very visually unique from Madden. Quarterbacks throw the ball different and there’s some cool animations for pancake blocks or tackles. Visuals are my highlight of the game.
Now the cons list. You might take in how short the pro list was.
The menus are bland. There’s zero to do except play the game or recruit. Top stories is an option but it’s basically 7 headlines on rotation talking about individual players from other teams. So, no one you’d know about. The second page of menus has a top 25 which is the only thing that held any entertainment value out of the 12 or so options. Heisman Watch just says the players and schools no stats no cool info. Games played you can sort through the 50 or so cfb matches to see who won. The box scores are clunky to get in and out of. Everything is.
Team stats are in depth as always.
How they get those stats is the worst part of this game. Sim a game 100 times and maybe the top ranked team wins 33 percent. That’s a made up number. But Alabama falls to Boise state more than you’d think possible. My Miami team was ranked 93 offense 94 defense and lost to FCS east whose ratings you can’t even see. My Spartan team went to to the cfp with a 79 overall offense 83 defense. Then went 4-8 the following year with better numbers.
Playing the games is like watching the coming out party that terrible players had against the Detroit Lions for years. Ai controlled teams will break time and space to make plays. Your 90 plus offensive line will be thrown to the ground by blitzing cornerbacks. Wide receivers for the cpu will pancake a defender, shiver another one 7 yards yards backwards then pick up the safety who’s the last man to beat for the hb dive that’s about to go 76 yards.
Defenders in zone will decide to blitz if the QB steps up in the pocket but will commit to the secondary if the same QB actually scrambles.
The game fails at every single level outside of glitz. It could be fixed and be a good game but it’s EA. One can only hope that the nfl and cfb open their doors for someone else and not give ea the exclusive anymore but I doubt that too.
