Long-since past its heyday, EastEnders continues to disappoint. It currently has the worst cast in its history, and the standard of writing/storylining is unbelievably poor. Combined, these do not make for a good show. One of the problems is that successive producers have kept or reintroduced legacy characters simply because they have either ‘always been there’ or ‘should be there’. That evidently makes storylining more and more difficult and unrealistic as writers struggle to think of new stories. Too many characters are wandering in search of a storyline. Good luck with that one. Perhaps, to keep things fresh, all characters should have a maximum lifespan of 5 years.
