So, first off, I was so excited for this game. I’ve loved pretty much every title in the series, and had some high expectations following Sword and Shield and Arceus for the switch line of pokemon games. However, it’s really just not living up to expectations. The main issue is that the game seems incomplete somehow. Like we’re all playing a leaked trial version instead of a full-priced finished game. It almost feels like some strange bootleg game instead of a main title series for a famous franchise. The music is not exactly notable, and sounds like recycled themes from Sword and Shield, and some combination of themes from Sun and Moon, especially the Festival Plaza theme. Honestly, it’s a bit of a disappointment. The FPS is truly tragic unless it’s in specific cutscenes. If you’re someone who get motion sickness from choppy game animation and unstable camera movements, I’ve got bad news for you. This game will trigger that. There are also really weird, consistent bugs. The camera pan for battles will cut into the ground and start showing the sky instead on the bottom half of your screen, and sometimes pokemon will sink into the ground or rocks, or float just off of cliffs. These are just a couple in a very long list. Additionally, because of the weird FPS, when you’re using any sort of quick transportation option, it seems like it’s slower than walking because of the lag in the scenery while you’re moving. I am hopeful that these issues will be fixed, especially given the reviews so far. In the meantime I would say save your money and hold off purchasing until there are some changes. This is currently not a game worth full price.
