There's really nothing I can find to knock Dark Winds for. If you're like me & drawn into shows by how intelligently its main plot evolves, unfolding to lay bare the layers of thought behind it, this show will not disappoint you. At no time does it become overly dense or rely on needless confusion just to keep viewers tuned in. I really can't think of any show, at least in recent history, that may benefit more from a clearly intentional character development ideal & subsequent honest representation than Dark Winds. The characters are so well written, none of the stereotypes which typically define native peoples on TV ever infect a single one of the episodes. Instead, they personify the writers' obvious familiarity & immersive understanding of the culture rather than portraying how writers "think" native people act or viewers "expect" them to behave.
