The first time ever a mainline Zelda game disappointed me. I had fun but it was like empty-minded enjoyment type fun. I played through most of it on the same map as I did in BotW, doing the same things, meeting the same characters (even the same NPCs) in the same locations, and for what? The classic Zelda story I was expecting just wasn’t there. Playing in a post-apocolyptic Hyrule in BotW was awesome, and it would be cool to play in a restored version of that Hyrule. But they didn’t fully go through with that, it’s like half-done. The dialouge feels somehow more empty as well, and Zonai tech is so much more boring than ancient Sheikah tech. The main objective for 90% of the game is “find Princess Zelda” which is just.. ugh. And like I said it did NOT keep my interest for long, all of this happens for no real reason and the ending isn’t very satisfying either.
So why? Why did this game have to happen instead of something new? I don’t understand the praise, Nintendo swapped some things around and called this rehash a game? I feel cheated and confused, I bought THIS for $70?! Maybe this game just isn’t for me, which hurts to say as a huge fan of literally every other Zelda game. I played through the whole game hoping for more, and it did not deliver.
