This movie succeeds in telling a story worthy of the world’s greatest detective, and in that aspect alone distinguishes itself as one of the better Batman movies to date. The rest of the movie is an enigma in that it’s amazing amalgamation of retaining some core character lore while making some serious changes still somehow make you want to see more of this dark and gritty world. A five star movie but for one sticking point. Pattinson does a better job then I thought he would in the character overall but I think part of that is supported by the other stellar elements in the movie (an incredible supporting cast, filmography, and score). The biggest issue for me is just how emotional and pensive Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne/Batman are shown to be. Whereas the Nolan trilogy did its best to find a balance for this between both characters, Reeves and Pattinson have created a character who is more easily relatable, showing extreme emotion but lacking much of the control iconic with the character. As a result, while most of Reeves’ changes to the Batman universe hit the mark, I think that particular change missed.
