A show that starts with some promise (not expecting high production), and built an expectation of a storyline, completely falls apart. First of all, whoever wrote this does not like black men. For the most part, probably doesn't like black people. Outside of the overacting from 90% of their cast, and the overuse of profanity, the bad writing, and unnecessary nudity scenes…I am floored by how bad this show chooses to portray all the male cast. The likelihood every single black male cast is a horrid cretin, is clearly purposeful. I know it’s a show where many people dont look good, but wow… at least there are some good people among the female cast. This is my first Tyler Perry show I watched… I wonder if it’ll be my last. That said, this show completely breaks the foundational rules to a good show. While you can be invested in the drama, time and time again I was wondering why the focus was consistently pulled away from the main female lead. I wanted to focus on her story. And we were made to believe it was a story of the female lead possibly winning an opportunity that will change her life, only to be delved in drama and a deeper conspiracy. Did not pan out that way at all. Instead we get introduced to long, badly written dialogue with characters whose side stories don’t appear to contribute significantly to the plot. And the main character felt more like another cog in the wheel of misfortune. Also, as someone who can appreciate a sprinkle of good sex scenes and nudity, this was done so poorly. There was so much showing of a strip club, and crude behavior, I just felt disgust. Lastly, as there is so much wrong with the show that I’m not going to list it all. The seventh episode was the worst episode, but the last episode is a complete let down. It just didn’t build to anything good.

Poorly written. I Like the actors, but c'mon, it has glaring issues. No character development, focuses solely on the parents, and the married couple becomes step-siblings?

Given the nice clothes, and decent set pieces, good actors, I was entirely perplexed at how a show that looked to have promise had such a terrible screenplay. The writing and direction is atrocious. There are minute actions that made no sense, cheesy lines, and just terrible pacing. I didn't believe the emotions the actors had because it just appeared so sudden. Overall, I place this as terrible writing.

While I enjoy the story and find it a good show, I do have some criticisms. There is absolutely no character growth for the main character, Thony, who consistently makes decisions that end up hurting the people around her. Opposed to appealing, it makes her disliked. Furthermore, the motivations that propel the character to act certain ways in each season have become overplayed. Thony is motivated by protecting her son and her relationship with her son. It is her weak spot, and that weak spot is taken advantage of either by the goverment or others. At some point, this consistent use of her son as a "liability" which is how they portray him, becomes quite aggrevating. I want to see something new, new motivations, new explorations of the character and story. However, it feels as if the writers do not know how to get out of their "box". Outside of it, I do enjoy watching the other characters and the issues they deal with. And while I am at the begining of the 3rd season, I will see how it pans out and whether or not it gives me enough interest to watch a 4th.

When a movie makes you cry twice, it's a damn-good movie.

As always, Dave Chappelle is an excellent story-teller. He just grabs your attention. But, it was clearly not his best work. And at the start of the special, it was lackluster.

A great movie. Kept me well entertained. The writing was decent, but as usual, I wish there were more depth to the antagonists and other characters. The writing for the supporting actor, Dakto Fanning (an actress I'd like to see more of in movies), was building to something, but kind of fell a bit flat in terms of her role in all of this. But overall, they made sufficient use of her in the end.

Ill conceived plot. Doesn't have the same punch the first film had. And lots of nastalgia that may not get new watchers to fully enjoy unless they watch the movie from like 20 years ago. And yet, the story itself wouldn’t garner interest from adult viewers who grew up on the old film. That said, overall it’s not a bad film, just not something worth choosing over other movies.

Fully enjoyed the film. It was very good. Didn’t even notice it was a smaller budget but gave block buster feel!! The film did pose questions as to why certain things happened in terms of… shouldn’t AI be a stronger threat… but overall, it was good.

6 episodes in, and the show isn’t about Belmont. There is not much Belmont in it. It is mostly world building and story building of side characters. This is like writing 101. Build up your main character first, then expand. The Belmont character is a side character. The story also feels slow. The writing overall doesn’t hit home. And, while the animation of everything else seems cool, the animation for the actual characters and their faces are noticeably stiff. Also, some of the story plots seem forced. I’m not seeing how “the people” fit in with everything that’s going on. How is it the regular people seem to allow what’s going on with the vampires without uttering much a word. It feels like a lot is not explained. Overall, I spent some time watching the series, but I felt myself getting bored and losing interest.
