Anyone who has ever seen a half decent coming-of-age movie will immediately recognize Hridayam for the lame cringe fest that it is. Imagine the disappointment, after all the hype that went into this movie's release and the precedent of quality movies by Mr. VS, when this revealed itself to be nothing but a senseless ramming of events marred by 'meh' acting, headache-producing editing, and self righteous dialogues. It was as if it was shot with a multitude of cameras at different angles and every take okayed at the first go - overconfidently hoping that the editing table will do the trick. One could muster the kindness to forgive the lack of chemistry between the actors but the utter breakdown of chemistry between the director and the story will remain a vindictive thorn to every sensible eye. The brilliant music lay wasted like a neglected garden. Someone pour Mr. VS a stiff drink or two for he needs to get down his idealistic horse and smell the grass of realistic adult existence.
