Is this the next Dune? I think it may be. Is it the next Hyperion? Is it merely Alien taken to the absolute extreme? I don't know but I hated the main character all the way to last page and I still couldn't put it down. I read all of the Eragon stuff long ago and remember being kinda underwhelmed with it. But this book was truly amazing. Paolini took ten years to write it and it shows. The only other author I've discovered in the ten years that comes close is Peter Hamilton. If you like being challenged by aliens that (never forget) are freaking ALIENS then you'll love this. My only true issue with it was I read too much and kinda knew what was coming very early on. But if you haven't read John Ringo, Tom Kratman, Dan Simmons, and of course Mr. Heinlein you will love it. Even if you have, there is still plenty to digest here that pays off beautifully.
