Ugh! I watched the first 2 seasons of Alone Australia hoping it would get better each night. I will not waste my time on future seasons. The locations are horrible, the hunting restrictions leave the contestants with very little choices other than to fish (and then you better not catch an eel), most of the contestants sound like they didn't understand what they were signing up for (it's called Alone... you're going to get lonely, you need to at least attempt to find food, make a shelter, etc.), and either the contestants do a horrible job of filming their activities or the editing and content chosen by the SBS producers is horrible. Most viewers of a survivalist contest want to see a little of how they made their shelter (some of the shelters are cute and more complex than others), what foraging is being done (did Suzan's seeds that she gathered from the sedge turn into a viable food source?), hunting and fishing of course - how did they adapt to their particular situations. Then there is some interest in things done for comfort and convenience (bed making, food storage, fireplaces and smoke control, crafting signs or tools, etc.) LASTLY is the content that contains whining about past situations, missing mama, spouses, partners.... Alone Australia seems to be more interested in the whining emotional stuff than in actual survival. There is an audience out there for that, but you need to rename the show so that people looking for a survival reality show won't tune into this one.
