Why you should be watching Arcane on Netflix.
Arcane is a true mastery of animation. Every scene is dripping with flavor, shadows, and color. Background characters are beautifully animated and not a single detail is out of place. The directing is truly breathtaking with scene cuts and transitions perfectly implemented to maximize the characters and tension.
But it's not just beautiful to watch, the characters are rich and well developed. Each one has a beautiful, believable arc. You will love and hate complex villains, tragic anti-heroes, and wonder-boys. Each character is complex and no one is blameless or purely good and evil. The show perfectly illustrates how they are all victims of a endless cycle of violence perpetuated by greed. Every character is brought to life with some of the best voice acting in modern animation.
The soundtrack is unbelievable. Every scene oozes with perfect music. Heavy metal, classical, western jazz, indie pop, and rap all blend together in perfect harmony. You will find yourself tapping your feet to fast paced beats during chase scenes, shaking in your seat as violin solos underscore political maneuvering, and singing along as characters confront their demons to the sound of Imagine Dragons.
The worldbuilding is rich and delicate, but never overwhelming. You understand quickly and easily how the city works, but realize that it simply one island in a sea of nations. While we never leave Piltover, we are set up beautifully for massive geopolitical conflicts spurned by the actions of our heroes and villains.
And the best part is you need to know NOTHING about League of Legends to enjoy the show. You will lose a little of the fanservice, but if anything it will make you want to give one of Riots fantastic Runeterra games a try.
Wheel of Time is trying to be the next GoT, but Arcane with incredible characters, perfect animations, and incredible worldbuilding has taken the Iron Throne.
