Ok, I admit I have a man-crush on Chris Hemsworth. This might have contributed to my liking this movie. The dialogue, while terse, is just enough to provide context and help us figure out the characters. The action is pretty much non-stop, a la John Wick. This alone, together with the cinematography was enough to keep me glued to the screen. Although set in Dhaka, Bangladesh, much of the shooting took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. While the Gujarati signs were replaced with Bengali signs, the extras and scenes take us to this old Indian city. A bit eerily, the movie reminded me of the time I was almost killed by a Bangladeshi thug for money on a trip near Ahmedabad decades ago. Even now there are millions of illegal migrants from Bangladesh in India, and quite a few are engaged in criminal activities. Ironically, many of these criminals now reside in Canada, my current home, as refugees. This personal connection made this movie particularly riveting for me.
