Dune Part 2 is the only the second movie since 2003's LOTR:ROTK I've seen multiple times in theaters. I ended up seeing it 3 times in IMAX, and even went once by myself which is something I've never done lol.
It has captivated me in a way no other movie has and now I have the pleasure of reading Herbert's novels because Villeneuve has done such a masterful job with this series.
Dune Part 2 is pure scifi perfection and a wonder to behold. The casting, the sets, props, costumes, etc. are all executed in an unrivaled fashion. The huge ships and cities don't even feel like CGI, it truly feels like you are watching something filmed in another galaxy and sent to Earth.
The movie balances action sequences with character development and nuance of storytelling to strike the utmost entertainment value without getting lost or using action scenes as a crutch.
There isn't a single scene that drags or feels "cringey" like so many other films even of this high a caliber. It makes nearly 3 hours feel like 30 minutes because you are just so completely immersed in the worlds of Arrakis, Giedi Prime, Kaitain and the lives of the characters who live there.
This is a masterpiece plain and simple, absolutely deserving of a place amongst the pinnacles of scifi films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, the og Star Wars movies, Blade Runner and Alien. I'd go as far as to say it surpasses those films and can compete with the best movies of any genre.
It is a must see in theaters as it is mind-blowing on the big screen. Do yourself a favor and see it, you will not be disappointed.
