I am truly flummoxed by those that gave this favorable reviews??? The only thing they did right was actually capture the absurdities and weak storylines that were so prevalent during the 80's. The characters were weak and just not believable. The same with the scenarios. and they checked off all the cliches and it was very very cliche, especially with the callous and insensitive reporters. There was no developing mystery and too much emphasis on the chaos and toxic Homelife and the incessant fighting between Vincent and Cassie. Benedict Cumberbatch's character was arduous to watch. He was just so over the top advererial and self destructive that it was so unbelievable. Plus him having that imaginary puppet with him was so insulting to watch. I did want to see how it ended and hence I stuck it out but I should have known the ending would be disappointing and lacking too. Plus the boy just ran away and would rather live in the sewers deep in the labyrinth behind subways with the homeless community instead of being home was beyond stupid! There's just too much in the storyline to criticize and thus not enough room to write it all. The one attribute that they could have gotten right but didn't, was the detective. I would say his character was the best or (the lesser of the evils as far as believability goes) and I was looking forward to see how he uses his detective prowess to solve the crime, but basically everything he did was based on luck and had all the evidence handed to him in VHS tapes showing the crimes. This whole story was quintessential lame and wished somebody warned me first not to waste my time.
