The girl's character should have been presented as having some mental condition, instead of just wanting to have a pet. Her actions, at her age, were incredible. She doesn't recognize any danger, very poor assessment of any situation, she took from her parents. The sounds are there, the precautions and warning signs are there, still they stayed blind!
