What a waste of A list talent! This was such a slow moving boring movie. I kept waiting for something to happen. Why do writers think the F word is one of the few vocabulary words they can use? Why did a 16 year old have permission to use that word in front of his parents and kid sister? Why did there have to be a disgusting scene of a dad flirting with a young girl? This was a 1 out of 5 stars. Don't waste your time! I would recommend "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise or "2012" with John Cussack, for excellent end of the World scenarios.

I'm reading this book for the fifth time. I'm always fascinated with the character development of each person in the book. I was born in 1957 so some of this resonates with me. My sister started college in 1968. I understand the 60's were a very turbulent time. Besides the profanity and the racial slurs, this is still a must read book for every woman, so she can understand and appreciate her mother's journey. I know I'm in awe of modern women buying their own house or car and running their own businesses! I'm 65 and have seen many changes for women which boggle and challenge me to this day.

This adaptation is truly a masterpiece. The animation, vivid colors, beautiful songs, humor, and sweetness were a breath of fresh air. The costuming of the 7 mermaid daughters was so beautiful. Everyone did a wonderful job acting these well known characters. Considering what we call "entertainment" lately, with foul language, violence and unsavory characters, this was a spectacular contrast. It was great to see a movie the whole family can watch in awe together. Scene spoiler: my favorite scene was the last one where humans and merpeople were seen celebrating happily together.
