Fun read, I guess, but disturbing celebration of alcohol and alcoholism and narcissistic personality disorder… the father abandoned the family due to alcoholism so the mother stays drunk herself for a year ( with three neglected kids under 12) and is constantly drinking and partying and indulging in bad behavior into late middle age. More sad and pathetic than anything else. The writing is fine but inconsistent with reality, so ultimately, boring as the overwrought behavior and emotions are not sustainable
