I'm not a huge Star Wars fan; my wife is however. She pre-orderd this for our PS5 back in March. Having enjoyed the first one, I was expecting about the same from this follow-up. Boy was I wrong. The character dialogue is eons better, reminding me of the emotional impact playing The Last of Us. The UI and controls are significantly better as well. The grapple capability, for example, brings fonds memories of playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time 25 years ago in middle school. Also the little details within the customization aspect are great. BD-1 reacts anytime you change his appearance, like an invisible hand slapped on him a new pair of clothes. Cal is also much more customizable, down to a mullet and fu-man-chu. Yes, I rocked that for the majority of the game. You can even buy Star Wars songs to play in a juke box. While I won't give anything away, the ending is great and unexpected. Drawbacks? Certain action area we're difficult to navigate because the controls were not clearly identified and or the action triggers either had too small of an area or too large. I found myself having to get Cal "just right" in order to engage with NPCs. These are small critiques however. Having finished the main story, there is still much to explore. Further, you will spend sometimes an inordiante amount of time just to open a chest with a new haircut. There are plenty of side missions, but some are completely moot, I.E. what's the point of gardening if it can't do anything for you? The Harry Potter game does a much better job of tying all the side quests into a cohesive experience. Overall, Jedi: Survivor easily surpasses it's predecessor and is the best Star Wars game I have ever played and top 10 for console games. Also, first time ever getting, "the feels" for anything relating to Star Wars....don't tell my wife :)
