This is an emotional documentary, and I felt so heartbroken for the children of AJ. What I found completely inappropriate was the police apathy to the situation and not taking the older woman's complaints seriously. I was disgusted in the way she spoke to the kids, in particular the racist language, however, it does seemed she was pushed to the brink. The kids were running the street, while the parents showed utter disrespect for the older lady. In saying that, what came first, the racist language or the loud, messy kids, and the lady deserved peace. Not saying racist language is ever OK. It's a pity the older lady didn't move house, but she shouldn't have had to. When the kids told the police or their parents the older lady had a gun, they should have taken it seriously! I think this is a tragic situation that comes down to a lack of respect from the parents and children (the parents should be more actively parenting and teach their children respect for other people and their space), apathy from the police, and the terrible gun laws in the USA. Why on earth does an old lady own a gun?? Writing this from Australia.

They wasted too much time on the toy boy and then as the film is wrapping up, introduce the age appropriate love interest without any real storyline. Very predictable. Still, enjoyed most of it but it could have been so much better. Whoever wrote the story should not be allowed to create any more film scripts imo 🫠

Would only watch this movie in its entirety when on a plane with nothing else to do. Bizarre movie and didn’t see the point.

Easy to watch... but the characters are annoying and so cliche.

I don't understand the positive reviews for this show. It's far from clever, and as an author, I would get slammed if I put forward a story like this to my editor -- full of holes and inconsistencies, and poor character development. I couldn't get through the first episode. Shame as most of the actors seemed good!

I started watching this and I couldn't get into it. Then one night I decided to go back to it and I'm glad I did. Such a good movie, Matthew Mcconaughey excelled, and the other leading actors gave a solid performance. Sad story, for a young person; a product of his environment to be put in prison for so long... longer than murderers and shame on the police. Justice should be about rehabilitation and second chances (especially for someone so young), not severe illogical punishment. I hope the family got good money for this film, so they can use it to change their children's lives and the cycle not continue.

Guessed the storyline after 5 mins. Asians that don't look or sound Asian.
